Stop motion is an animated-film making technique. This involves:

• Manipulation of objects with small increments while capturing each stop motion instance - This is called as "Stops"
• Fast play back of multiple Stops - will appear to exhibit independent motion

Clay Animation Process

Story

It all begins with a story. Story can be in written form or verbal form. Listening is an art and Sathyamedha’s multimedia engineering team will listen to the story of the customers.

Script

Story will be converted into script. Sathyamedha’s multimedia team comprising of script writers will help the customers to prepare professional script output.

Storyboard

Storyboard will be prepared based on script. Storyboard comprises of sequence of frames or sketches. Storyboard frames will have details of camera angles and transitions.

Voice Recording (Voice Actors)

Voice recording will be carried out in two stages

• Preliminary voice recording
• Postproduction version of voice recording

Completed voice recording consists of music, Sound effects, and dialogues. Sathyamedha’s multimedia team comprises of voice actors, audio engineers to assist our customers with voice recording.

Animatic (or Photomatic)

Animatic comprises of pictures which are in synchronisation with the soundtrack. Animators will work with directors, script writers and story boards by using animatic to bring sync between animatic, storyboard, sound track and script w.r.t. any timing issues.

This results in possible modifications of animatic, storyboard or in soundtrack.

Design and Timing (Art Director and Timing Director)

Characters designing and backgrounds designing are done by the animation character designers using model sheets. The model sheets show how each important character will look from different dimensions. Similar model sheets will be prepared for backgrounds and settings as required.

Layouts

With approved designs as input, background layouts designing will determine angles, shading, lighting, camera tracks and etc. Character layouts will determine major poses for each important character. With these the animatic will be revised, reviewed and approved by the director.

Clay animation

This involves preparing sequences of animations on clay animation using one frame a time. Lead animator will sculpture the key characters in a scene using layouts as a guide to prepare frames. Time and synchronisation with voice recording verified to avoid any discrepancy.

Tweening process will address the remaining frames to fill the gaps in the frames.

Post Production

Post production activities include

• On-site and off-site editing
• Colour correction and colour grading
• Music licensing
• Voice over editing
